About Us
In the early part of 2013, Mrs. Elizabeth Agyei the PCG Mount Zion congregation session clerk approached Vivian Mensah about the possibility of opening a Ghana Presbyterian church in Rohde Island. Vivian Mensah suggested that Elizabeth Agyei contact Mrs. Gladys B. Benson to further discuss the probability. In 2014 after twelve months of constant communication among Mrs. Gladys Benson, Mrs. Elizabeth Agyei and the District Minister Rev. Ernestina J. Gakpo, a plan was set in place aiming at opening a PCG Preaching Point in Rhode Island. Several months before that period, Mrs. Gladys B. Benson, and Mrs. Leticia Tete received an invitation to the Elevation ceremony of the Mount Zion church in Worcester as the New England District on October 20th 2013. The occasion was officiated by the PCG Moderator of the General Assembly, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Martey from Ghana. Shortly after that, on December 15th 2013 Rev. Ernestina J. Gapko and Elizabeth Agyei organized a trip with church agents and leaders, including fifteen members of the Mount Zion Worcester congregation to visit Rhode Island. The first meeting took place in the basement of Mr. and Mrs. Bob and Gladys Benson. In attendance were seven Rhode Islanders in the name of Mr. Bob Benson Asomani, Mrs. Gladys B. Benson, Mrs. Litecia Tete, Mr. Edmund Agyemang, Mrs. Priscilla Agyemang, Ms. Gladys Oye, and Mrs. Vivian Mensah. After a few scheduled meetings, the church launching failed unfortunately due to a lack of strong organization effort and leadership in gathering together the Rhode Island folks.

More About Us.
Many months after the failed attempt, Mr. and Mrs. Alex and Comfort Danso in the company of Jennifer Mate unexpectedly met Mrs. Vida Ofori Amo at a Worcester Ghanaian restaurant called Anokyekrom. While admiring the PCG cloth worn by Mrs. Vida Ofori Amo, now Catechist at the Grace congregation in East Haven, some conversation ensued between the two parties regarding the hope of opening a Presbyterian church of Ghana in Rhode Island. Upon arrival home, Mrs. Vida Ofori Amo's contacted Catechist Benbel Nana Owusu of the Mount Zion congregation, now the New England District Minister, who then consulted with Mrs. Elizabeth Agyei, the Mount Zion session clerk, now the District Clerk. The two had a discussion with the newly appointed New England District Minster Rev. James J. Kumi Duodu. A joint decision was made to call on Mrs. Gladys B. Benson in Rhode Island to gather a few folks for a meeting. On June 23rd 2018 under the leadership of the new District Minister Rev. James J. Kumi Duodu, a second meeting took place once again at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Bob and Gladys Benson in Cranston Rhode Island. Present at the meeting were Rev. James J. Kumi Duodu, Catechist Benbel Nana Owusu, now the New England District Minister, Rev. Samauel Kwabena Boateng, Mr. Albert Kwabena Ampadu, Mr. Bob Benson Asomani, Mrs. Gladys Brown Benson, Mrs. Comfort Danso , Ms. Jennifer Mate, Mr. Kwame Larbi, and Mrs. Vivian Mensah Bortey. The focus of the meeting was to begin the groundbreaking effort in launching a PCG Preaching Point in the State of Rhode Island.

In January 2019, after many months of searching, Mrs. Comfort Danso found a rental site for worship at 500 Prospect Street in Pawtucket Rhode Island. Rev. James J. Kumi Duodu named the new church Ebenezer Preaching Point of Rhode Island. Mr. Kofi Kyei from the Mount Zion Congregation, now the Catechist at Ebenezer became the appointed caretaker. The rental site was at the time being used by another local church for Sunday morning services. Due to this reason, Ebenezer Sunday services were scheduled and held in the afternoon at 2:00pm-3:30pm. The first church service at the new site took place on Sunday February 3rd 2019 led by the District Minister Rev. James J. Kumi Doudu, now the Chairperson of the North America/Australia Presbytery and now Catechist Kofi Kyei. On May 5th 2019 PCG Ebenezer became inaugurated! The ceremony was officiated by the District Minister Rev. James J. Kumi Duodu. After several months of worshiping at the new site, the afternoon worship schedule became burdensome for many members who preferred morning services. Knowing that this was becoming a problem, the new District Minister Rev. Benbel Nana Owusu strongly urged members with his assistance to find a new location that will accommodate and honor morning services for all the members. By the Grace of the Almighty God, the church moved to a new place of worship on March 1st 2020 at 744 Main street in Pawtucket Rhode Island, proceeding the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic. To God be the Glory.
